National, Jan 16: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) seized a Pakistani fishing boat along with nine crew members after it was detected inside Indian waters near the International Maritime Boundary Line, officials said on January 15.
The intercepted vessel is being brought to Porbandar for further investigation. According to Gujarat Defence PRO Wing Commander Abhishek Kumar Tiwari, an ICG ship on routine patrol in the Arabian Sea spotted the Pakistani fishing boat within Indian waters close to the notional IMBL on the night of January 14.
Tiwari said that when the vessel was challenged, it attempted to flee towards the Pakistani side. “However, the ICG ship intercepted and boarded the boat in Indian waters,” he stated in a post on X. He added that nine crew members were found on board the fishing boat, identified as Al-Madina.
Officials said the vessel is being towed to Porbandar, where it will be thoroughly searched and the crew will be jointly interrogated by the relevant agencies.
The operation highlighted the Indian Coast Guard’s continued vigilance and firm enforcement efforts to safeguard India’s maritime boundaries and ensure security across the country’s maritime domain.
