Centre Sanctions 50-Bedded Critical Care Block for Dhalai District Hospital

Agartala, Jan 28: Healthcare facilities in Tripura’s tribal regions are set for a significant boost with the Centre approving a 50-bedded Critical Care Block at Dhalai District Hospital under the PM-ABHIM scheme.

Chief Minister Manik Saha said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has cleared the project at an estimated cost of ₹23.75 crore. He said the new facility would substantially enhance district-level capacity to handle trauma cases, cardiac emergencies and other critical conditions, easing pressure on referral hospitals in the state capital.

“With this state-of-the-art critical care facility, patients from Dhalai will no longer need to be referred to Agartala for advanced treatment, ensuring timely and effective care closer to home,” Saha said.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister JP Nadda for supporting the expansion of healthcare infrastructure in Tripura’s tribal belt.

Officials said that once the Critical Care Block becomes operational, it is expected to play a crucial role in improving access to specialised medical services in Dhalai, one of the state’s most remote and underserved districts.
