Udalguri-Sonitpur, Aug 13: Several solar power projects were inaugurated in Assam’s Udalguri district on August 13 to expand the use of renewable energy in government healthcare facilities and improve the reliability of power supply.
BTC Deputy Chief Executive Member and MLA Rihan Daimary inaugurated the projects at a programme held at the Udalguri Block Primary Health Centre. The initiative included solar electrification at Harisinga Model Hospital and the Udalguri Sub-Health Centre, along with solar-powered street lights within the health centre premises.
Implemented with support from the SELCO Foundation at an estimated cost of Rs 12 lakh, the projects are aimed at promoting clean energy use in healthcare institutions and public spaces.
Daimary said the initiative would support reliable power supply while contributing to energy conservation and environmental protection.
BTC Chairman Tridib Daimary, Executive Member Fresh Mosahary, SELCO Foundation Programme Manager William Lahari and other dignitaries attended the programme.
