CCTV Network and Sanitation Boost Unveiled in Silchar

Silchar: Silchar took a decisive step towards smarter and safer urban management with the inauguration of a citywide surveillance and sanitation upgradation programme at the Silchar Municipal Corporation (SMC) premises in Sadarghat. Attending as chief guest, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty said the town is steadily moving away from years of civic neglect towards planned, technology-driven development. He praised SMC Commissioner Srishti Singh, IAS, for her innovative leadership and consistent field-level engagement, noting that visible improvements in civic administration reflect teamwork and administrative discipline.

Emphasising the importance of surveillance in modern cities, Chakraborty said CCTV cameras would enhance public confidence, deter anti-social activities and assist police in maintaining law and order, especially as Silchar’s commercial and educational footprint expands. The MLA also highlighted progress in waste management, stating that long-pending legacy waste issues are being addressed through focused efforts. Two Material Recovery Facility machines are now operational at the dumping ground, enabling scientific waste processing.
