Agartala, Jan 31: Reinforcing India’s growing emphasis on artificial intelligence–enabled governance, the Directorate of Information Technology under the Government of Tripura organised a regional-level AI awareness workshop in Agartala on Friday, January 30. The programme was held as part of the preparatory outreach for the upcoming India-AI Impact Summit 2026.
The workshop, conducted at Pragya Bhavan, was designed to introduce policymakers, administrators and other stakeholders to the expanding role of artificial intelligence in governance and public service delivery. Officials said the initiative forms part of a broader effort to familiarise state-level institutions with emerging AI-driven tools and frameworks, in line with the Centre’s push to integrate advanced digital technologies into administrative decision-making and policy implementation.
Artificial intelligence is increasingly influencing key sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, urban management and smart governance, prompting India to fast-track its adoption strategies. Major national initiatives supporting this transition include the IndiaAI Mission led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and NITI Aayog’s National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, both of which aim to harness AI for inclusive, sustainable and innovation-led growth.
The regional workshop in Tripura is among several pre-summit engagements being organised across the country ahead of the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled for February 19 and 20 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The summit is being positioned as the first large-scale global artificial intelligence forum to be hosted in the Global South, highlighting India’s aspiration to play a leading role in shaping international conversations on ethical, inclusive and development-oriented AI adoption.
