AASU condemns alleged obstruction to flood relief collection

UDALGURI-SONITPUR, Aug. 9: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has condemned the alleged obstruction of relief collection efforts by various organisations for flood-affected people in Sivasagar and Nazira.

AASU Central Committee Vice-President Nitul Bora said the organisation opposed the alleged obstruction to donations being collected to assist flood-affected people.

“We condemn the obstruction to the collection of donations by various organisations for extending assistance to the flood-affected people of Sivasagar and Nazira,” Bora said.

He was speaking at a special felicitation ceremony organised by the Dhekiajuli Regional Students’ Union at the Zubeen Garg Auditorium in Dhekiajuli, Sonitpur, on Saturday.

The programme, chaired by Dhekiajuli Regional Students’ Union president Bhagya Jyoti Nath, felicitated 622 students from 34 schools in Dhekiajuli for their achievements.

AASU Sonitpur district secretary Shankar Das conducted the programme. Additional Superintendent of Police, Dhemaji, Pranjal Bora; Lakhminath Bezbaruah Academy principal Kajal Bora; Loknayak Amiya Kumar Das College principal Sukhdev Adhikari and other dignitaries attended the event.
