Nagaon: The All Nagaon District Students’ Union today took out a protest rally in Nagaon town, demanding immediate reduction in the prices of essential food items and life-saving medicines. Strongly opposing the Assam government’s decision to increase prices, the student body termed the move as ‘anti-people and arbitrary’. In a statement, the Union said the government has failed to curb the rising prices of essential commodities. “Instead of providing relief to the public, the decision to hike prices reflects the government’s indifference towards public welfare,” the students’ body stated.
