Assam’s Agri Stack to Benefit 12.8 Lakh Farmers, Transform Fertiliser and MSP Systems: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati, June 7: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said the implementation of Agri Stack is set to transform agricultural service delivery in the state, with around 12.8 lakh farmers expected to benefit from improved access to fertilisers and more efficient Minimum Support Price (MSP) payments.

Sharing the update on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said the digital agriculture initiative is streamlining key services by making fertiliser distribution and paddy procurement more transparent and efficient.

Agri Stack is a digital platform designed to build a comprehensive farmer database through unique digital identities linked with land records and agricultural data. Similar systems have been introduced in other states, including farmer registry platforms based on Agri Stack in Uttar Pradesh.

Under the system, farmers will be able to book fertilisers digitally without paperwork using their Farmer ID, Aadhaar and automatically linked land records. The platform also enables MSP-based paddy procurement through digital verification and approval certificates, allowing farmers to complete key formalities even before arriving at procurement centres.

Sarma said the initiative has been developed to safeguard the interests of genuine farmers while ensuring that those not yet digitally connected are not excluded from government support.

According to the state government, tenant farmers will be covered through authorisation from landowners, cultivators working on government land will be eligible through e-KYC verification, and small tea growers will also remain covered even without a digital farmer ID.

The Chief Minister said Agri Stack is modernising agriculture in Assam by reducing paperwork, improving service efficiency and ensuring timely delivery of benefits. He further added that the system includes special provisions to ensure that tenant farmers, tea growers and cultivators in remote or non-digitised areas continue to receive government assistance as the state transitions towards a technology-driven agricultural framework.
