Baksa, May 25: Under the nationwide observance of Janjatiya Garima Utsav 2026, the Baksa district administration carried out the Jan Bhagidaari Abhiyan across the district from May 18 to May 25 under the theme “Sabse Door, Sabse Pahle”, with a focus on delivering government services and strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms in remote tribal regions.
The campaign was conducted under the guidance of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and covered five development blocks — Baska, Dhamdhama, Jalah, Barama and Gobardhana. The programme included field outreach initiatives, Jan Sunwai sessions, health camps, awareness drives, entitlement verification activities, plantation campaigns and village-level interactions.
Officials from multiple departments directly engaged with tribal communities through awareness programmes, field visits, health check-ups, grievance hearings and welfare verification camps. The outreach focused on increasing awareness and improving access to welfare schemes such as PMAY-G, MGNREGA, PM-KISAN, Orunodoi, pension programmes, healthcare services, tribal welfare initiatives and livelihood support schemes.
In the Baska Development Block, activities were organised at Chanbarikhuti VCDC, where grievance collection camps, Jan Sunwai sessions, field inspections and plantation drives addressed issues linked to welfare benefits and inclusion of eligible beneficiaries.
Dhamdhama Development Block conducted major outreach activities at Baganpara and Jopadong VCDC covering 18 villages. During the programme, the Public Health Engineering Department demonstrated water quality testing procedures to promote awareness regarding safe drinking water practices.
In Jalah Development Block, field outreach and Jan Sunwai programmes identified several eligible tribal households that had remained outside welfare coverage because of limited awareness. Officials provided direct guidance on application procedures and access to entitlements.
Barama Development Block organised programmes across 22 tribal villages through camps at Bhalukdonga and Kaklabari. Daily Jan Sunwai sessions held at Adi Seva Kendras witnessed strong participation, with most grievances relating to PMAY-G, Orunodoi and PM-KISAN schemes.
In Gobardhana Development Block, awareness and grievance redressal activities were held at Labdanguri Community Hall and covered villages under Uttar Kharija Bijni and Mainamata Pathar VCDCs. Discussions centred on welfare inclusion, MGNREGA eKYC linkage, disability certification, healthcare access and human-animal conflict issues near Manas National Park.
The campaign saw participation from villagers, self-help groups, youth representatives, Gaon Burhas and community leaders. According to the district administration, several minor grievances were resolved on the spot through coordinated departmental action, while larger issues were documented for further intervention.
The district-level launch event of the campaign was held on May 18 at the Baksa district headquarters in the presence of Thaneswar Basumatary, Augustus Tigga, Kimnei Changsan and other departmental officials and public representatives.
