SILCHAR, Nov 3: Barak Valley Police seized 470 cartons of cough syrup during a late-night operation at Balachara Toll Gate on the Silchar–Haflong National Highway in Assam on Monday, News Daily 24 reported.
According to the report, the consignment was allegedly concealed in a truck transporting sugar.
Police from Borkhola apprehended the driver and handyman of the vehicle. Both were arrested, and further investigation is underway.
The authorities have yet to disclose further details, including the quantity of cough syrup involved and the identities of the arrested persons.
