BJP Sikkim Chief D.R. Thapa Inspects Delayed Roray Chu Steel Bridge Project in Bhusuk Khola

Gangtok, June 5: BJP Sikkim president D.R. Thapa on June 5 visited the site of the long-pending Roray Chu Steel Bridge at Bhusuk Khola to review the progress of the project and assess the reasons behind its prolonged delay.

Thapa was accompanied by party executives during the inspection, which followed repeated appeals and concerns raised by local residents over the incomplete bridge. The delay has significantly affected connectivity in the area, causing inconvenience to commuters and residents.

Officials at the site informed the BJP leader that the bridge project was originally tendered in 2017 but has remained incomplete despite several years of work. During the visit, Thapa held discussions with the site supervisor and construction staff to understand the current status of the project and the challenges faced in its execution.

The BJP leader was further informed that the remaining work is expected to be completed within the next month. While acknowledging the assurance, Thapa stressed that the project must be completed within the stipulated timeline without compromising on quality, safety and durability.

He also underlined that infrastructure projects should not only be delivered on time but must also meet high construction standards to ensure long-term benefits for the public.

Local residents welcomed the inspection and expressed hope that the bridge would soon be completed and opened for public use, which they said would significantly improve transportation and connectivity in the region.
