Barpeta : A convergence meeting between Barpeta Medical College & Hospital (BMCH) and the District Health Society, Barpeta, was held at the Conference Hall of the Circuit House here on Monday under the chairmanship of the District Commissioner. The meeting focused on strengthening healthcare delivery, improving key health indicators and enhancing coordination between BMCH and health institutions across the district. The meeting was attended by the Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent and Superintendent of BMCH, Joint Director of Health Services, Additional District Commissioner (Health), District Tuberculosis Officer, MDR and CDR Nodal Officers, SDM&HOs, District Programme Manager, Block Programme Management Units and other officials.

The overall status of healthcare services and progress of various health programmes were reviewed. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening the referral system, ensuring timely treatment for patients referred to BMCH and improving communication between the medical college and grassroots-level health facilities. Maternal and child healthcare was another key area of discussion. Officials stressed early identification and regular follow-up of High-Risk Pregnant Women, timely referral of critical cases and improved coordination for safe deliveries.
Progress under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme was also reviewed, with emphasis on early detection, treatment adherence, follow-up and referral services. Officials were urged to maintain regular coordination and information sharing to address challenges in healthcare delivery. The District Commissioner stressed collective efforts to ensure accessible, timely and quality healthcare services for the people of Barpeta.
