A candlelight vigil was organised at Tamenglong district headquarters on June 14, with church leaders, residents and members of various congregations coming together to mourn the killing of six Naga civilians and express solidarity with their grieving families.
The programme was jointly organised by the Town Churches Union (TCU) and the Zeliangrong Baptist Churches Council (ZBCC). Organisers condemned what they described as the brutal and inhuman killing of six innocent Naga civilians, including two pastors, Rev. Manu Thiumai and Pastor Kenpibow.
Participants gathered with candles and offered prayers in memory of the victims, turning the event into a collective expression of grief and a call for peace and justice.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Pastor Guigongdai Pamei said the vigil had been organised to strongly condemn the abduction and killing of the six Naga civilians, which he alleged had been carried out by Kuki individuals. He described the incident as cruel and inhumane and stressed that such acts of violence should be denounced by all sections of society.
Pamei appealed to both the state and central governments, as well as citizens, to take decisive steps to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
The programme concluded with prayers for peace, harmony and justice in the region, while participants renewed their demand for accountability and action against those responsible for the killings.
