DHAKUAKHANA, Aug 30: Dhakuakhana Teachers’ Training College welcomed its 2026–28 batch with a day-long Freshers’ Welcome Ceremony featuring educational discussions, campus activities and cultural programmes on Saturday.
Educationist Bholanath Gogoi, who inaugurated the open session, urged trainees to pursue meaningful education and develop qualities such as honesty, humility and politeness.
The programme began at 7 am with a campus cleanliness drive, followed by tree plantation. Principal Dr Pradip Chandra Bora hoisted the college flag, while new trainees registered at 9 am. Purna Lahan, a member of the College Management Committee, lit the ceremonial lamp at 10 am.
The open session began with a chorus by college trainees and was chaired by Dr Bora. Trainees’ Students’ Union general secretary Bitu Hazarika delivered the welcome address.
College Management Committee president Purnananda Gogoi, the appointed speaker, said students were living in an era where intellectual ability would determine success.
The session also featured musical performances by trainees. Social worker and committee member Purna Chutia attended as a distinguished guest.
An interactive session between senior and newly enrolled trainees was later inaugurated by Dulu Saikia, retired principal of Paschim Dhakuakhana Higher Secondary School. Coordinated by trainees Madhurjya Konwar and Lucky Dutta, the session saw participation from faculty members, staff and students.
The celebration concluded with a cultural programme in the evening.
