Drug Bust Near Ranipool Leads to Multiple Arrests, Police Personnel Among Accused

Gangtok, May 2: A routine vehicle checking operation near Ranipool Police Station resulted in a significant drug seizure and multiple arrests, including that of a police personnel, marking a major development in efforts to curb narcotics trafficking in Sikkim.

Officials said a vehicle bearing registration number SK-01-TA-2660 (Alto K10) was intercepted at a drop gate near Ranipool during routine inspection. The driver, identified as Kishan Turi, was allegedly found transporting a substantial quantity of banned substances concealed within the vehicle.

During the search, police recovered 2,160 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvo and 150 Nitrosun tablets. A case was subsequently registered under the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act, and an investigation was initiated.

During questioning, the accused reportedly revealed that the consignment was intended for delivery to an individual in Gangtok. Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of a police personnel allegedly linked to the case.

Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the police official but confirmed that further investigation is underway, with the possibility of additional arrests.

Reiterating its zero-tolerance stance, Sikkim Police stated that strict action would be taken against all individuals involved in drug trafficking, regardless of their position or affiliation. The case underscores intensified enforcement measures aimed at tackling substance abuse and maintaining accountability within law enforcement agencies.
