The Northeast’s media community is mourning the death of Rahul Chanda, editor and founding member of Guwahati-based GPlus, who passed away on November 2, 2026, at the age of 44.
Chanda was part of GPlus from its inception in 2013 and helped steer the publication’s editorial course as it developed over the years. His sudden death has left colleagues and members of the wider media fraternity in Assam and the Northeast in shock.
His journalism career extended beyond GPlus. He previously worked with Seven Sisters Post and Frontier TV, building experience across print and broadcast media. He also taught at Assam Royal Global University before returning to the publication.
Throughout his career, Chanda remained closely associated with the region’s media landscape. His work reflected an emphasis on journalistic integrity, balanced coverage and editorial standards, while his involvement helped shape GPlus’s development and content direction.
He leaves behind his wife and their four-year-old son.
Chanda’s passing marks the loss of a journalist who contributed to the growth of GPlus and the wider media sector in Northeast India.
