Sports Desk: Tickets for the much-awaited international friendly between India and five-time world champions Brazil in Kolkata on October 3 have gone on sale, triggering strong interest among football fans across the country. The match will be played at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, popularly known as Salt Lake Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 7 pm. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced that tickets are available through District by Zomato. Prices range from ₹999 to ₹15,000, with several categories available for fans.

The high-profile encounter is being billed as a landmark fixture for Indian football as Brazil’s senior men’s team will play in India for the first time. Brazil are currently ranked fifth in the FIFA rankings, making them the highest-ranked opponent India have faced since the FIFA ranking system was introduced in 1992. The demand for tickets was intense soon after sales opened on Wednesday afternoon. Reports said a large number of tickets in the lower-priced categories were sold within minutes, with fans facing virtual queues while attempting to secure seats.
The Brazil fixture is part of a busy international window for India. The Indian team will first face Panama in Bengaluru on September 26 before taking on Brazil in Kolkata. Three days after the Brazil match, India are scheduled to face Uruguay at the same venue on October 6. The Brazil visit has generated enormous excitement among Indian football supporters, with the Kolkata fixture expected to attract a packed house and provide the Indian team with a major test against one of world football’s most celebrated sides.
