Union Health Minister and BJP national president J.P. Nadda on Wednesday visited the flood-affected Santak and Nepali Khuti areas in Assam’s Sivasagar district to assess the damage caused by the recent floods and review ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures.
During the visit, Nadda interacted with families affected by the deluge and heard their concerns regarding the extensive damage to homes, agricultural land, livestock and public infrastructure. He also took stock of the relief operations being carried out in the affected villages.
The BJP president enquired about the availability of essential relief supplies and the assistance being extended to displaced families. Assuring residents of continued government support, he said their concerns had been noted and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to helping those affected rebuild their lives.
Santak and Nepali Khuti are among the worst-affected areas in Sivasagar district, where the recent floods caused widespread destruction and severely disrupted the lives and livelihoods of thousands of residents. The disaster damaged numerous houses, roads, embankments and vast stretches of agricultural land, while many families also suffered the loss of livestock and personal belongings.
Nadda’s visit comes as the Assam government and district administration continue to assess the extent of the damage, provide immediate relief and initiate rehabilitation work across flood-hit regions.
The Union minister’s tour forms part of the government’s continuing review of the flood situation in Upper Assam, particularly in Sivasagar and neighbouring districts that were among the worst affected by the recent deluge.
