Lakhimpur: In a heartfelt tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday and in alignment with the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Lakhimpur district joined the rest of Assam in observing Seva-Saptah from September 17 to 23. The initiative, rooted in the Prime Minister’s vision of Seva-hi-Samarpan, focused on extending community service and solidarity to vulnerable populations.

Key activities included the distribution of food baskets to TB patients by registered Nikshay Mitras, symbolizing the district’s strong commitment to the national goal of TB elimination.
Following the sudden demise of cultural icon Zubeen Garg, programmes scheduled for September 22 were postponed and later held on September 26–27 across five Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs). On September 26, 77 TB patients in Bihpuria LAC received nutritional kits, in a ceremony attended by MLA Dr. Amiya Kumar Bhuyan.
On September 27, similar events were held in Lakhimpur, Nowboicha, Ranganadi, and Dhakuakhana. At LMCH Hall No. 05, Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka inaugurated the event with floral tributes to Zubeen Garg. A total of 120 TB patients were supported in Lakhimpur LAC alone, with district officials, healthcare workers, and community leaders in attendance.

In all, 422 TB patients across five LACs benefited, while Nikshay Mitras were felicitated for their compassionate service, reaffirming Lakhimpur’s dedication to the TB Mukt Bharat mission.
