LPG Supply in Mizoram Remains Unaffected Amid West Asia Crisis, IOCL Urges No Panic Booking

Aizawl, April 21: Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supply across Mizoram has remained stable despite the ongoing crisis in West Asia, with Indian Oil Corporation Limited assuring consumers of uninterrupted availability and cautioning against panic booking.

Addressing a press conference in Aizawl on April 20, IOCL sales manager Diganta Chaudhury said the company is prioritising domestic LPG demand while closely monitoring its supply chain to maintain consistent distribution across the state. He emphasised that there has been no disruption so far, with operations continuing at normal levels.

At present, IOCL is serving approximately 2.97 lakh households in Mizoram, delivering around 8,000 cylinders ежедневно, a figure comparable to pre-crisis volumes. Officials indicated that the supply network remains robust, ensuring that both urban and remote areas receive regular deliveries.

To support business continuity, LPG allocation for commercial users has been scaled up to nearly 70 per cent of pre-crisis levels. This measure is aimed at assisting local enterprises that depend on a steady supply of cylinders for their operations.

The company has also encouraged consumers to adopt digital booking methods such as SMS and IVRS to streamline the refill process. Around 25,000 refill requests are currently being processed through these platforms, reflecting growing reliance on digital channels.

In addition, IOCL has implemented delivery authentication codes (DAC OTP) to ensure cylinders are delivered to legitimate customers. Enforcement efforts have been intensified, with multiple inspections carried out across the state and strict action initiated against distributors found engaging in irregularities.
