Imphal, April 30: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on April 30 extended his wishes to Haj pilgrims from the state, particularly members of the Meitei Pangal community, as they departed from Imphal International Airport for Kolkata en route to Madinah.
The Chief Minister personally saw off the pilgrims at the airport and offered prayers for their safe and healthy journey. He expressed hope that they would reach their destination without any difficulties and complete the pilgrimage in good health.
During the send-off, Singh also appealed to the pilgrims to pray for peace and harmony in Manipur, noting the challenges faced by the state in recent times. He urged them to seek blessings for stability and reconciliation, emphasising the importance of collective efforts towards restoring normalcy.
According to the Manipur State Haj Committee, a total of 379 pilgrims from the state have been selected for the Haj pilgrimage this year. Of them, 172 pilgrims had already departed for Kolkata on April 29, while the remaining 207 were scheduled to leave on April 30.
The send-off programme, organised by the Directorate of Minority Affairs, was attended by Tourism Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh, MLAs Kongkham Robindro Singh and Sheikh Noorul Hassan, former MLA Y. Antas Khan, and Director of Imphal International Airport Chipemmi Keishing, among others.
