Manipur Police Arrest Suspected PLA Member, Seize Illicit Liquor in Separate Operations

IMPHAL: Manipur Police on August 31 reported separate security and law-enforcement operations in the state, including the arrest of a suspected member of the RPF/PLA and the seizure of illicit liquor.

In Imphal East, a joint team of CDO/Imphal East, 4 Mahar (Borders) and 7 Madras Regiment arrested 29-year-old Yensenbam Bungomacha Meitei from Angtha Khongnangkhong following intelligence inputs. Police identified him as an active member of the RPF/PLA. Further investigation was underway.

Meanwhile, Chassad Police Station detected 30 litres of local DIC liquor from a Tata truck driven by 45-year-old Rafikuddin, a resident of Kanakpur Part-I, Binnakandi, Cachar, Assam, on August 30.

Police subsequently destroyed the seized liquor along with Kamjong womenfolk near the police station gate.

The operations formed part of continuing efforts by security and police personnel to curb insurgent activities and the movement of illicit substances in different parts of Manipur.
