Meghalaya Government Renames Key Roads, Appoints Nodal Officer for Public Services Act

Shillong, April 19: The Government of Meghalaya has announced a series of road renamings across the state with immediate effect, as per a notification issued by the General Administration Department.

Under the revised nomenclature, “Blessed Mother Teresa” road has been renamed “Saint Teresa Road”, while “Rev Nichol’s Roy Road” has been corrected and redesignated as “Rev. J.J.M Nichols Roy Road”, honouring J.J.M. Nichols Roy. Additionally, the PWD road stretch from Thorika Rabha to Nibari will now be known as “Utpal Rabha Road”.

Authorities have also renamed “Pasyih Garampani Road (P.G Road)” as “Phramer–Shangpung–Saphai Road”. Another route stretching from Wahthapbru locality towards Jaiaw Pdeng via Mission Compound has been rechristened “Dr. Friday Lyngdoh Road”, in recognition of Friday Lyngdoh.

Officials stated that the notification has been circulated among all relevant departments and stakeholders to ensure compliance and implementation of the changes.

In a separate development, the Cooperation Department has designated C.S. Khongwir as the nodal officer for matters related to the Meghalaya Right to Public Services Act, 2020, following a notification issued on April 16.
