SHILLONG, August 19: Meghalaya Public Health Engineering Minister Marcuise N Marak has stressed the importance of reliable water supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) as the state continues to witness rapid economic growth.
Speaking at a review meeting on JJM 2.0 and IMIS data entry at Windermere, Shillong, Marak said coordinated efforts by the department would be crucial to taking the mission closer to its targets.
The meeting reviewed the progress of JJM implementation and IMIS data entry, with officials assessing ground-level challenges, identifying gaps and discussing measures to expedite pending works.
JJM Meghalaya Mission Director and Commissioner and Secretary Pravin Bakshi gave a presentation on Har Ghar Jal year-wise targets under the Composite Implementation Reform Plan, schemes that have achieved 100 per cent physical completion, field photo uploads and the physical and functional status of schemes across divisions.
Officials from different districts briefed the Minister and senior officials on progress and challenges in their respective divisions.
The review also emphasised timely and accurate updates on the IMIS portal to ensure that the data reflects the actual status of schemes on the ground.
Chief Engineer PHE RS Nongbri called for stronger grassroots service delivery and collective solutions to implementation gaps. The meeting also discussed coordination, accountability and timely execution of PHE works.
