SHILLONG: The Meghalaya government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ITE Education Services (ITEES), Singapore, through the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) to strengthen technical and vocational education and training (TVET) across the state.
The partnership aims to enhance skill-based education through academic development, infrastructure improvement, leadership and capacity building, as well as the introduction of certification and quality assurance mechanisms.
Under the agreement, ITEES will carry out a Situational Training Needs Analysis (STNA) and formulate recommendations along with an implementation roadmap for the proposed Meghalaya Skills Institute (MSI).
The initiative seeks to build a modern and future-ready skills ecosystem for the state’s youth by equipping them with industry-relevant competencies and improving employment prospects.
State officials said the collaboration represents a major step towards modernising vocational education in Meghalaya and aligning skill development initiatives with international standards.
They added that the partnership is expected to strengthen the quality of technical education and help create a skilled workforce capable of meeting emerging industry requirements.
