Aizawl, May 30: The Mizoram government has announced the launch of ‘MizoTaxi’, a mobile application aimed at improving fare transparency and preventing overcharging by public transport operators.
According to an official release, the application will be rolled out in Aizawl from July 1 and will initially cover taxis, two-wheeler taxis and auto-rickshaws operating within the city.
The app will allow passengers to verify government-approved fares and ensure they are charged accurately for their journeys. Officials said the initiative is intended to enhance accountability in the transport sector, minimise fare-related disputes and provide commuters with a reliable platform to check fare rates.
The government stated that the launch of MizoTaxi forms part of its broader efforts to use technology to improve public services and strengthen commuter confidence in urban transport systems.
Authorities added that the service will initially operate in Aizawl and may be expanded to other areas depending on its implementation and public response.
