Bajali: Bajali MLA Dharmeswar Roy on Thursday took up repair work on a damaged stretch of National Highway 127, the important Pathsala-Bhutan international road, amid concerns over road safety. The affected stretch, located in front of the BJP office in Bajali, has developed several deep potholes. During rainfall, the potholes reportedly fill with water and become difficult for motorists to spot, increasing the risk of accidents.

Roy joined the repair work at the site, where gravel was brought in to fill the potholes. He questioned why road repairs are often undertaken only after accidents occur. “Why can’t we develop roads before any untoward incident happens? What is the benefit of repairing a road after an accident?” the MLA said.
The damaged section is regularly used by commuters, who had reportedly raised concerns over its poor condition. However, immediate repair work had not been carried out for some time. The MLA’s intervention comes amid continuing concerns over the condition of the Pathsala-Bhutan road, particularly during the monsoon when waterlogging and potholes pose additional risks to motorists.
