Narendra Modi Becomes India’s Longest-Serving Elected Prime Minister, Receives Congratulations from Northeast Leaders

Northeast, June 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, June 10, became India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, surpassing the tenure of Jawaharlal Nehru and marking a significant milestone in the country’s political history.

Among the first to congratulate the Prime Minister was Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who said Modi’s name is closely associated with the major developmental changes witnessed by the country over the past 12 years.

In a post on X, Sarma described the occasion as one that would be “etched in the annals of history” and called upon the nation to reaffirm its commitment towards achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.

“Today, as Adarniya @narendramodi ji becomes the longest-serving elected Prime Minister of India, we celebrate the achievements India has made in the last 12 years,” Sarma said while extending his congratulations.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang also greeted the Prime Minister, stating that the milestone reflected the enduring trust reposed by the people in his leadership.

“Heartiest congratulations to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister,” Tamang said in a post on X. He noted that Modi had crossed 4,399 days in office, overtaking the record set by India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and opening what he described as a “new chapter in the democratic history” of the nation.

Tamang said the achievement symbolised the people’s confidence in Modi’s “visionary leadership, tireless dedication and steadfast commitment” to nation-building. He added that the Prime Minister’s leadership continues to steer the country towards the goal of “Viksit Bharat by 2047”.

The milestone marks a historic moment in Indian politics, with leaders highlighting Modi’s tenure as a period of sustained governance and development.
