Udalguri, May 5: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) recorded a strong electoral performance in Udalguri district, with constituent parties securing victory in all four Assembly constituencies, according to results declared on May 4.
The Bodoland People’s Front retained dominance in three constituencies, while the Bharatiya Janata Party won the Tangla seat, consolidating the alliance’s position in the predominantly Bodo-inhabited district.
In the 45 No. Bhergaon constituency, BPF candidate Maheswar Boro secured 67,105 votes, defeating UPPL candidate Nelson Boro by a margin of 37,797 votes. JMM candidate Prabhat Das Parika finished third with 21,997 votes.
In the 46 No. Udalguri (ST) constituency, BPF candidate Rihon Daimari, who also serves as Deputy Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council, won with 76,800 votes, defeating UPPL candidate Dwipen Boro by 27,554 votes. Congress candidate Suren Daimari finished third with 9,429 votes.
The 47 No. Mazbat seat saw another decisive BPF victory, with candidate Charan Boro securing 84,715 votes and defeating JMM candidate Pritirekha Barla by a margin of 55,543 votes. Congress candidate Narayan Adhikari and UPPL candidate Rabindra Basumatary trailed in third and fourth positions respectively.
In the 48 No. Tangla constituency, BJP candidate Biken Chandra Deka won a commanding victory with 84,309 votes, defeating UPPL candidate Jayanta Kumar Rabha by a margin of 55,952 votes. Congress candidate Rohit Pariga finished a distant third.
The results underline the NDA’s strong organisational hold in the region, with both the BJP and BPF consolidating support across Udalguri’s Assembly segments.
