NF Rly GM Reviews Electrification Work, NJP Redevelopment Project

Guwahati: Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway, conducted an extensive inspection of the ongoing electrification work in the Araria–Galgalia railway section and reviewed redevelopment activities at New Jalpaiguri railway station. Accompanied by senior officials from NFR Headquarters and Katihar Division, the General Manager assessed the progress of electrification projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and promoting energy-efficient railway infrastructure in the section.

During the visit, Shrivastava inaugurated a newly developed Boot Laundry facility at Rautara under Katihar Division to strengthen maintenance and cleaning arrangements for railway staff equipment and operational gear. He also participated in a plantation drive by planting saplings, highlighting the railway zone’s focus on environmental sustainability and green initiatives.\

As part of the inspection, the General Manager carried out a Window Trailing Inspection to evaluate track conditions, signalling systems, bridges, level crossing gates and passenger amenities along the route. At New Jalpaiguri railway station, he reviewed the ongoing redevelopment work under the World Class Station project and the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The station is being upgraded with modern infrastructure, improved passenger facilities, enhanced circulating areas and state-of-the-art platforms to transform it into a major international-standard railway hub.

Shrivastava stressed the need for timely completion of all projects while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and operational efficiency. He also appreciated the efforts of railway officials and staff towards modernization and passenger-friendly services across the zone.
