GANGTOK: The high-altitude landscapes of Kupup and Gnathang Valley in East Sikkim have turned pink with the seasonal blooming of Himalayan flowers, drawing tourists, photographers and social media content creators to the region.
Located at around 13,000–13,500 feet, the valleys are usually associated with snow-covered landscapes and harsh winter conditions. During the brief snow-free period, however, high-altitude flowers bloom across parts of the terrain.
The seasonal display has attracted visitors from within and outside Sikkim, with many travelling to the valleys to photograph and document the bloom. Intermittent drizzle and mist have added to the visual appeal of the landscape.
A variety of high-altitude flowering plants have covered parts of the valleys in vibrant colours during the short blooming season.
The display will end with the onset of winter and snowfall, when much of the landscape is expected to be covered in snow again.
The seasonal transformation has offered visitors a different view of Kupup and Gnathang Valley while providing a temporary boost to tourism in the area.
