Security forces and Manipur Police carried out a series of coordinated operations across several districts of the state, resulting in the arrest of multiple active cadres linked to banned insurgent outfits. The operations also led to the rescue of a juvenile allegedly being recruited into a militant organisation, while another juvenile associated with an insurgent group was apprehended.
According to official sources, security forces on June 19 arrested a juvenile active cadre of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) from the general area of Songpi village under Churachandpur Police Station.
In a separate operation conducted on June 18, security personnel apprehended an alleged extortionist associated with KCP (PWG). The arrested individual was identified as Wangkhem Premjit Singh alias Kamcha alias Ibomcha (46), who was described as an S/S Captain of the outfit. He was arrested from his residence at Luker Mayai Leikai in Imphal West district.
On the same day, security forces conducted another operation at the ISBT Complex area and arrested an active cadre of the RPF/PLA, identified as RK Solomon Singh (51), alias Amon, a resident of Thangmeiband Lourungpurel Leikai in Imphal West district. His associate, Thangmeishang Kasar (32), originally from Phange village in Kamjong district and currently residing at Nagamapal Khwai Brahmapur Laimayum Leirak in Imphal West district, was also arrested.
During the operation, security personnel rescued a juvenile who was allegedly being recruited into the RPF/PLA.
In another operation, security forces arrested Sarangthem Jayenta Meetei alias Bicky alias Wanglen (48), identified as an S/S Lieutenant Colonel and Director In-Charge of Intelligence of the RPF/PLA. He was apprehended from the Kongba Bazar area in Imphal East district.
Officials said security personnel seized various incriminating items during the operations, including ₹2,000 in cash and a white Bolero Camper vehicle.
Separately, on June 19, Manipur Police arrested another active cadre of KCP (PWG), identified as Surensangbam Bungcha alias Winner (46), from the Maibam Leikai area under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district.
Authorities said intensified counter-insurgency operations are continuing across the state to curb militant activities, dismantle extortion networks and prevent recruitment attempts involving vulnerable individuals.
