Gangtok, May 2: Sikkim Police has successfully recovered ₹1 lakh lost in a cyber fraud case and returned the full amount to the victim following swift action on a complaint filed through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
Police said the complaint was lodged by Najuma Hangma Subba on March 27, 2026, reporting an online fraud involving ₹1,00,000. Acting on the information, investigators carried out a detailed probe, tracing the financial trail associated with the fraudulent transaction.
Authorities confirmed that the entire defrauded amount was successfully retrieved and credited back to the complainant’s bank account. The operation was credited to the efforts of Santosh Poudyal, who played a key role in the recovery process.
The refund was completed in the presence of the complainant’s father, Binod Hang Subba, along with the Station House Officer of Sadar Police Station, officials added.
