Guwahati, August 16: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Frontier Headquarters Guwahati, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour, including grand musical performances for the public.
On August 15, Inspector General Shri Sudhir Verma unfurled the National Flag at Frontier Headquarters and paid homage to the martyrs. He also extended Independence Day greetings to SSB personnel and their families.
In his address, Verma highlighted the operational, administrative and sporting achievements of Frontier Guwahati. He said the SSB was responsible for guarding 1,751 km of the India-Nepal border and 699 km of the India-Bhutan border, while contributing to the welfare and development of border communities.
As part of the celebrations, the Jazz, Pipe and Brass Bands of Frontier Guwahati organised two days of patriotic performances. A band show was held at City Centre Mall on August 15, followed by another performance at Sati Radhika Shanti Udyan at the Brahmaputra Riverfront in Uzan Bazar on August 16.
The performances drew an enthusiastic response from the public and aimed to promote unity, patriotism and national pride while strengthening ties between the SSB and the people.
Senior SSB officers, representatives of the local administration, personnel and members of the media attended the programmes.
