Sumit Antil Alleges Mental Harassment by Coach

New Delhi: Sumit Antil, a two-time Paralympic medallist, has made serious allegations of mental harassment and repeated verbal abuse against javelin coach Naval Singh, prompting intervention from the Sports Authority of India (SAI). According to sources, SAI has acknowledged receiving a formal complaint from Antil, which has also been supported by Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra and other athletes. The complaint accuses the coach of using abusive language and causing mental distress during training sessions.

SAI clarified that Naval Singh is not directly employed by the body but is currently associated with the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) as part of the National Coaching Camp. The matter has been forwarded to the concerned federation for further action. “The complaint has been received and is being duly taken up with the federation,” a source within SAI confirmed, adding that the issue is being treated with seriousness given the stature of the athletes involved.

In a post on social media platform X, Phogat expressed concern over the silence of authorities, remarking on the lack of accountability in such situations. The allegations have once again brought attention to athlete welfare and the need for a safe and respectful training environment in Indian sports. Further developments are expected as AFI reviews the complaint.
