Guwahati, April 26: The third victim in the fatal road accident in the Mathgharia area of Guwahati has been identified as Armina Ahmed, police confirmed.
Armina Ahmed, daughter of Aminul Islam, a CRPF personnel posted at Noapara in Bongaigaon, was a B.Tech student in Civil Engineering at Assam down town University.
The accident occurred when a car (AS01GP0562), travelling from the Geetanagar side, rammed into a parked truck with significant force. The impact left the vehicle completely mangled, indicating that it was being driven at high speed.
Police said the driver fled the scene immediately after the collision and remains absconding. A search operation has been launched by Noonmati Police to trace the individual.
The bodies of the victims were sent to the morgue at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. The other two deceased have been identified as Puja Saha from Goalpara and Akanksha Saikia from Sivasagar.
Preliminary findings suggest that the driver may have survived the crash, as the vehicle’s airbag reportedly deployed at the time of impact. Police said further investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events.
