Three Alleged Insurgent Cadres Arrested in Separate Manipur Operations

Security forces and Manipur Police arrested three alleged active cadres of insurgent organisations in separate operations across Kakching, Imphal West and Thoubal districts on August 12.

In Kakching district, security personnel apprehended 45-year-old Wahengbam Apoicha Meitei, alias Maikel, from Hiyanglam Awang Leikai. He was identified as an alleged active cadre of the RPF/PLA.

In Imphal West, Manipur Police arrested 38-year-old Longjam Arjun, alias Naobi, who was allegedly involved in extortion and was an active cadre of the KCP (MJC). He was detained from his current locality under Sekmai Police Station. Arjun, originally from Samurou Makha Leikai, was reportedly staying at Senjam Chirang.

Meanwhile, acting on specific intelligence, Thoubal CDO teams carried out a search operation in Sapam area under Khongjom Police Station. The operation led to the arrest of 41-year-old Chongtham Premchand Singh, who was allegedly involved in extortion and was identified as an active cadre of the KYKL.

The arrests were made as part of continuing security operations targeting insurgent groups and alleged extortion networks in Manipur. Further investigation is being conducted to determine the alleged activities and organisational links of the three arrested individuals.
