The Tripura government has been recognised by the Centre for its continued efforts to promote transparent and efficient public procurement through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).
The state received the ‘GeM Sustained Adoption’ award at an event held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on August 10 to mark the 10th anniversary of the government procurement platform.
Dr Akinchan Sarkar, Additional Secretary of the Finance Department, Government of Tripura, accepted the award on behalf of the state from Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.
Tripura was recognised for the growing volume of government purchases made through GeM and the efforts of various departments to adopt the digital procurement system. The award acknowledges the state’s progress in using technology to make government purchasing more transparent and efficient.
The recognition also underlines Tripura’s efforts to encourage wider adoption of GeM among government departments and procuring agencies, with the aim of improving efficiency, transparency and value for money.
The state government welcomed the honour and reiterated its commitment to expanding the use of GeM across departments and strengthening technology-driven procurement practices.
Senior officials and representatives from the Centre and state governments, along with stakeholders from the public procurement ecosystem, attended the event in New Delhi.
