Trump to Present FIFA World Cup Trophy to Champions

Sports Desk: United States President Donald Trump will present the FIFA World Cup 2026 trophy to the winning team alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the tournament final on July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The announcement was made by Infantino during a television interview on Tuesday. Infantino said he and Trump would attend the final together and jointly hand over the prestigious trophy to the world champions after the title clash. The move marks a departure from recent World Cup finals, where the FIFA president typically presented the trophy.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, with the final scheduled to take place at the 82,500-capacity venue in New Jersey. The stadium will host eight matches during the tournament, including the showpiece final. Trump and Infantino have maintained a close working relationship in recent years, particularly as the United States prepares to host several major FIFA events. The US President previously appeared at the FIFA Club World Cup final in 2025, also held in New Jersey, where he participated in the trophy presentation ceremony.  While Trump has not yet attended a match during the ongoing World Cup, his presence at the final is expected to add further attention to the tournament’s climax. FIFA has not provided additional details regarding the closing ceremony, but the trophy presentation is likely to be one of the most watched moments of the event.
