IMPHAL: Two people wanted in connection with a case registered in Tamil Nadu were arrested in Manipur’s Jiribam district by a joint team of Jiribam Police and Tamil Nadu Police, officials said.
Manik Uddin Laskar, 22, a resident of Sonabarighat in Assam’s Cachar district, was arrested on August 28 from the Inter-Village Road connecting Lalpani and Rasidpur after police received information that he was hiding in the area.
His wife, 21-year-old Bhagabati Majhi alias Ayesha Begum, was arrested from Kashimpur village in Jiribam on August 29. She originally belongs to Radhapur village under Saharpada police station in Odisha’s Kendujhar district.
The arrests followed a requisition from T8-Guduvanchery Police Station in Tamil Nadu seeking assistance from Jiribam Police to trace the two accused.
Both arrested persons will be handed over to the station house officer of T8-Guduvanchery Police Station for further legal formalities.
