Guwahati, Feb 9: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on February 9 ceremonially distributed the first tranche of seed capital under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan (CMAAA) 2.0 to 10,404 young entrepreneurs from Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Tinsukia and Charaideo districts.
The distribution programme was held in Dibrugarh and marked a key step in the state government’s push to promote entrepreneurship and self-reliance. The beneficiaries were selected from a larger pool of nearly 75,000 potential entrepreneurs identified across Assam.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the initiative reflected the government’s commitment to encouraging youth to become job creators rather than job seekers. He described CMAAA 2.0 as an unprecedented state-led investment to directly support aspiring entrepreneurs.
The scheme aims to provide financial assistance along with mentorship and institutional support to youth-led enterprises, with the objective of accelerating inclusive economic growth. Officials said the distribution of seed capital will continue in phases in other districts in the coming days.
