Guwahati: In a determined effort to safeguard passengers and combat human trafficking, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) successfully rescued 21 vulnerable individuals, including 19 minors, during operations conducted between September 18 and 23.
The rescue drives, carried out at various stations including Alipurduar, Chaparmukh, Barsoi, New Coochbehar, Kamakhya, New Jalpaiguri, Lumding and Kishanganj, highlighted the RPF’s vigilance. On September 18–19, three runaway minors were rescued, while between September 20–21, eight runaway minors, one boy and two destitute children were saved. Further, six minors including a girl were rescued during operations on September 22–23.

All rescued individuals were handed over to Childline authorities, NGOs, parents, and local police for safe custody and necessary follow-up.
The RPF’s dedicated “Meri Saheli” initiative, focusing on the safety of women passengers, played a pivotal role in ensuring a secure travel environment, especially for those travelling alone.
