Manipur CM Visits Injured Woman After Deadly Rocket Attack, Vows Strict Action

Imphal, April 7: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on April 7 visited a hospital to assess the condition of a woman injured in a rocket attack at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai in Moirang, where her two children were killed.

The Chief Minister visited the victim at Raj Medicity, where she is undergoing treatment, and directed officials to ensure she receives the highest standard of medical care along with all necessary support.

Condemning the incident, Khemchand described the attack as a “barbaric act” and said it was an attempt to disrupt peace in Manipur. In a social media post, he termed it an assault on humanity and a direct effort to derail the fragile peace in the state.

He asserted that those responsible would be brought to justice, stating that the perpetrators would be identified and dealt with strictly under the law. He added that such acts of violence would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to stability, the Chief Minister said all necessary measures would be taken to protect citizens and maintain peace and order. He also urged people to remain united against forces attempting to disturb communal harmony.

The attack took place in the early hours when a projectile, suspected to be a rocket, struck a residential house in the Moirang Tronglaobi area, killing a five-year-old boy and his six-month-old sister, and leaving their mother critically injured.
