Storm disrupts connectivity in Tinsukia border areas, key routes blocked

DIBRUGARH, April 22: A severe storm that lashed the Margherita region on Tuesday night caused widespread disruption, severely affecting connectivity in border areas of Tinsukia district.

Strong winds uprooted several large trees, which fell across key roads linking Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, blocking major routes and bringing vehicular movement to a near standstill.

Areas including Miao, Jagun and Namsai were among the worst affected, with roads rendered impassable and commuters stranded. The disruption also impacted the movement of essential goods between the two states.

Residents expressed concern over delays in clearance operations, alleging that no immediate steps were taken by forest authorities in Jagun to remove the fallen trees.

As a result, normal movement remained affected for several hours, causing prolonged inconvenience to travellers and local residents.
