Final Rites of Two Children Killed in Manipur Blast to Be Held After Families Claim Bodies

Imphal, May 2: The final rites of two children, including an infant, who were killed in the April 7 explosion at Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district will be conducted on May 2 after their families claimed the bodies from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences mortuary in Imphal.

Relatives collected the mortal remains and carried them in a funeral procession to their native village, where the last rites are scheduled to take place. The victims were the grandchildren of a local resident, identified as a five-year-old child and an infant aged only a few months.

According to reports, the children were killed when an explosive device, allegedly hurled by suspected Kuki militants, struck the residence of their grandfather during the early hours of April 7. Their mother was also injured in the incident and is currently undergoing treatment.

The blast had drawn strong condemnation across the region, highlighting the continuing tensions in parts of Manipur. Security agencies have launched an investigation into the incident, with efforts ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible.
