News Desk: The Delhi Government has announced free travel in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses for students appearing in the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled on June 21. Candidates will be allowed to travel free of cost by showing their valid admit cards. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the initiative aims to ensure that students do not face any inconvenience while travelling to examination centres on such an important day. The move is expected to benefit thousands of candidates and reduce exam-day stress for students and their families.
Delhi has joined several other states that have introduced similar measures for NEET aspirants. Earlier, the Punjab Government announced free travel in Punjab Roadways buses for candidates from June 20 to June 22 upon presentation of admit cards. The Haryana Government has also announced free bus services for students appearing in the re-exam on June 20 and 21. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated that candidates can avail the facility in Haryana Roadways buses by simply showing their NEET admit cards.
Similarly, Bihar has announced free travel for NEET candidates in state-run buses. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the step was taken to reduce financial and logistical difficulties faced by students and their families. The announcements come amid growing concern over the additional burden on students due to the NEET re-examination. Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had also appealed to state governments across the country to provide free transport facilities for candidates appearing in the medical entrance test. The NEET UG 2026 re-exam will be conducted on June 21 following the cancellation of the earlier examination amid allegations of paper leaks and irregularities.
