AASU Leader Urges Swift Action in Zubeen Case, Warns Against Rushing Probe

Guwahati: AASU President Utpal Sarma on October 14 emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation into the death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg.

Sarma stated, “By rushing, we do not give advantage to the guilty” and “Justice hurried is justice buried,” highlighting the need for a meticulous probe.

The AASU has been actively seeking justice for Garg, launching a statewide campaign that includes protests and tributes to the singer. Sarma’s comments come as the investigation continues, with several individuals summoned for questioning.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing the circumstances surrounding Garg’s death, which occurred in Singapore.

The AASU has demanded a swift, transparent, and thorough investigation, with concrete evidence and exemplary punishment for those found guilty.

The SIT has recorded statements from several Assamese expatriates, including seven individuals who arrived from Singapore to cooperate with the investigation.

The AASU has expressed concerns about the handling of the case, alleging lapses by certain individuals associated with Garg’s care team and the Assam Association in Singapore.
