The “G” Company of the 1st Battalion, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Sonapur, organised a tree plantation programme at Nandpur village on August 18 to promote environmental conservation and increase green cover.
Held under the guidance of Commandant Sunil Kaushik, the programme saw SSB personnel and local residents plant fruit-bearing, shade-giving and other environmentally beneficial saplings at suitable locations. The initiative was led by Inspector (GD) Mukesh Kumar Meena, Company Commander of “G” Company, Hojai.
During the programme, residents were sensitised to the importance of trees, protection of natural resources and maintaining ecological balance. The Company Commander urged villagers to plant more saplings and ensure their regular care and protection.
The programme also aimed to strengthen cooperation between SSB personnel and local communities. Villagers participated actively and expressed their commitment to protecting trees and the environment.
