Manipur Police seize over 2.7 kg suspected brown sugar, arrest two

IMPHAL: Manipur Police arrested two people and seized more than 2.7 kg of suspected brown sugar in two separate anti-narcotics operations across the State on August 26.

Acting on intelligence, a joint team of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Imphal East District Police, CRPF and Kangpokpi District Police arrested 32-year-old Paocha Kipgen at Khoiren Tampak, Motbung, in Kangpokpi district. Around 2.35 kg of suspected brown sugar, a Bajaj diesel auto and a mobile phone were recovered during the operation.

In a separate operation at the T Khullen Naka Check Post, a combined team of Senapati Police, CRPF and 16 Assam Rifles arrested 23-year-old Muhammad Safiqur Rahaman of Thoubal district. Officials recovered 27 soap cases containing around 360 grams of suspected brown sugar and seized an Omni vehicle.

The two operations resulted in the recovery of approximately 2.71 kg of suspected brown sugar. Further investigation is underway.
