Biswanath Chariali: On the occasion of World Rhino Day 2026, Biswanath Wildlife Division organised a friendly football match between the Biswanath Wildlife Division Team and Golia Football Club at Golia Playground on Tuesday. The match aimed to promote awareness about the conservation of the Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros (Rhinoceros unicornis) and strengthen community participation through sports. The match ended in a 1–1 draw in regular time. The Biswanath Wildlife Division Team won the subsequent penalty shootout 4–3.

The event was attended by Ratul Saikia, Secretary, Biswanath District Sports Association; Achyut Chutiya, Secretary, Biswanath District Football Association; Purno Mahalia, Retired Forest Officer; and Dilip Kakati, Biswanath. The event highlighted the role of sports in strengthening community engagement and encouraging youth participation in wildlife conservation.
